Birthday Celebrations @ Chavadi

#self

13th August was my birthday and yes its also an excuse to pig out of the house.  Had heard good things about Chavadi and decided to head there for spending the evening. Located off Bannerghatta road near the HSBC bank on the road connecting vijaya bank colony and bannerghatta road.  This is located on the roof of a service apartment. First glance, it looked busy !! We had to wait for 10 mins for our table since they had stopped reservations for the day when I called up before.  The wait would have been longer but the partner who was also the usher found tables for us (going there with the kid helped I think).  The rooftop ambience with the correct lighting provides a cosy feel in the evening

The place is run by three persons Priyanka, Prasad and Vinay and I met two of them (Priyanka and Vinay) who ensured the three of us had a splendid time…. The stewards knew their dishes and had good recommendations as well.  I was also given a tour of their neatly maintained kitchen

It was a good day for us since they had some specials which they were trying out and I generally opt for those if given the choice over a regular menu.   We started off with a jalapeno margarita (Rs.300) for the better half and a spiced guava mojito (Rs. 300) for me.  I really liked the Jalapeno margarita however though the mojito was just as good. It was spicy and fresh. The Margarita had a beautiful flavor of jalapeno and the dash of sweetness with the  spice of the jalapeno did wonders to the palate.

Cocktails

Along with these for the starters we were recommended the Lamb Kibbeh (Rs. 350).  A very interesting dish with soft succulent mutton cutlets on a bed of sauce topped with parsley. The cutlet was melt in the mouth goodness and had a very surprising and pleasant raisin sweet centre which provided a beautiful contrast. Not many dish manage to evoke such a feeling of bliss and this one did in style.

Kibbeh – Exquisite lamb

The second starter we ordered was the Mexicane Ranch Chicken (Rs. 300).  Lovely chicken strips with a spicy ranch dressing. It was light and fresh and paired well with the jalapeno margarita. The kibbeh on the other hand paired well with the mojito.

I also ordered a Pan Mojito (Rs.300) inspired by these explosion of flavors.  This was also nicely mixed with a good flavor of betel leaves. The mixologist there sure knows his drinks…

For main course we ordered pasta for the kid which he ate with gusto.

Pasta

My better half ordered the Malabari prawn (Rs 400)  which came complete with two appam. It wasn’t extraordinary and to those used to appam and stew on a regular basis this will  be an average dish.

Malabari Prawns

I ordered the Grilled Lamb chops which was another poetry in the kitchen. The pieces were spot on and was served with mash, pineapple, mint salsa, pearl onions in red wine sauce. The pineapple provided a striking sweet contrast to the sauce. Overall a beautiful filling dish. They have brilliant choices for vegetarians as well so the herbivores can also enjoy the food and ambience.

The total bill came to about Rs. 3378 including the tax. A little on the steep side but worth the experience.

Last but not the least a cheesecake which also was my birthday cake was brought in for dessert. A nice lovely finish for the day I was born on..

Leaving you with happy smiles
