Tales of Marriages and Flowers – Day 340

Well yeah this isn’t a regular flower. This is the Coconut tree flower which is considered sacred and is a mandatory part of most Kerala Hindu weddings and engagements.  The paddy next to it will be filled in the brass vessel. This large measure of paddy along with the flower stands for prosperity in the agricultural community… (yeah agri is in our roots 😉 )

I thought engagements and marriages are good results of love no??

  1. An interesting fact to know…
Coconut grows in abundance in Bengal too… But the flower has no religious significance.. though the fruit is of quite high importance.
(…such a branch of flowers…chopped… lots of coconuts might have grown of that! 20? or more?)
