Tantalizing Biryani – Hotel Millath

Me and my hungry co-brother  were looking for a biryani place in Chennai. I obviously got ruled out since dinner was my place of choice. We were at Pudupettai one of the well known places for vehicle accessories and one of the local guys suggested Hotel Mittath.

It was around 3 pm when we walked in and the place was absolutely packed.  We went in for two mutton biryani & natti  (country) chicken fry. The biryani was exquisite!  I am no fan of this loaded meal (yes we exist), so if I say it is exquisite, it will be right on the money. There is something pleasant about not having to bite into a freakin cardamom every three mouthfulls. I managed to eat my complete plate of biryani (never could do that if it wasn’t good enough). Lightly and evenly spiced with no one spice able to dominate the others and working well together for a lovely balanced flavor and succulent melt in the mouth chunks of mutton everything was perfect. This was made in the Ambur style.

The chicken was also well cooked and fall of the bone with good spicy gravy. Their mutton cup curry is a special though we were hardly in a position to try anything else. Enjoy the visuals and dont drool on the screen or keyboard. One of the finest places for Biryani in Chennai. Their variety of dishes is mind blowing so come eat and pamper your palate. If you are in Royapettah dont miss this place and it’s quite esy on the pocket too !! The service was absolutely brilliant and we were served very well inspite of the crowd

  2. The food looks really fantastic! Just a suggestion that if you enlarge your photos it will make it easier for people to few them.

I do like a good bowl of biryani but I always eat mine vegetarian with cashews and raisins. Lovely photos

We normally joke about Veg biryani saying it’s an oxymoron. If the biryani is veg its no longer a biryani but a pilaf 🙂

  4. zongrik says:

I like shrimp biryani especially with raisins

Yeah shrimp biryani is great.. I normally collect those raisins I find in the biryani and eat them at the end (like dessert) 🙂

  5. New dishes to me! Thanks for broadening my world!

  6. I’m not a big biryani fan either, surprisingly so since I originate from Hyderabad. The Natti Chicken looks delicious. It truly is a pleasure to have well-cooked tender meat.

  7. This sounds like a great place for biryani! The pictures are making me drool.

  8. Yummie…. far to tired to eat right now but still very apetizing images

Of all the types of biryanis you’ve tried, which would be your top 3?

    1. Pheno Menon says:

I love the malabari version which has less spice and more flavor. I am not a biryani nazi and a simple heart warming biryani is more than sufficient for me but it for sure has to be mutton. All others I dont consider them as biryani 🙂
