We had a session of Ganapati Homam (click on the word for information)in my house and what you see is the sacred fire ritual. Fire is one of the most revered elements. Fire is the only one among the five elements that does not get impure. Wind, water, air, earth all can be sullied and undergoes a natural cleansing mechanism but fire…. it absorbs all impurities but still remains pure.
