Kalaripayattu – Day 354

Steel bodies & lithe moves

We attended a demonstration of Kalaripayattu at Fort Kochi, an ancient martial arts form practised in Kerala. They involve very intense and quick movementss and amazing dexterity of the body and mind. The proponents of this art form can easily  jump over 6 feet to attack the competition and can only be seen to be believed. The advanced form of this martial arts is supposed to cover disabling the human nerve chain to render the enemy to the state of a vegetable called Varma Kala, unique Neuro Martial Art in warfare and borrowed from the Dravidian culture (Tamil Nadu). Varmam stands for vital points and Kala is the knowledge. Also included is a form of hypnotism.
