Did you know that there was a competition started in 2007 called the Google Lunar X Prize (GLXP) also called 2.0 by the X Prize Foundation? The challenge calls for privately-funded spaceflight teams to compete to successfully launch a robotic spacecraft that can land and travel across the surface of the Moon while sending back to Earth specified images and other data. The prize is $ 30 M to the first privately funded team that lands a robot on the moon which successfully transmits high definition images. For information head to the wikipedia page
