I recently came across a book called Heart Quake by K. Vijayakarthikeyan. The book is a suspense thriller with the story revolving around an IAS Office Vikram who ruffles the the feathers of an arrogant and power minister Rudra Pratap Rana. Not only is his family attacked, Vikram is further punished by being assigned as a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) in the ministers stronghold Laxmipur.
If that is not sufficient enough, Laxmipur suddenly falls victim to a mysterious heart disease that the doctors are at a loss to figure out. Can Vikram cope up with this strain?
Main Chacters
Vikram – Main Protagonist
Veda – Cardiologist
Rudra Pratap Rana – Minister
Raghu – Police Officer
Pros
What I liked about the book was its fast pace as well as the story revolving around bureaucrats and their outlook in the government. It deals with some good modern technologies which made me look up quite a bit of things in Google to verify. Most books are so jaded that you just read and finish. A book that can actually make you look for information, that needs something to “move you”.
If I really have to split hairs, I found a teeny weeny spelling/grammatical mistake in the book which shouldn’t be the case in an edited and published book but that’s just me being a freakin grammar nazi.
Available on Amazon in both paperback and kindle format here
