Phenomenal World has always been a big fan of Masterchef Australia and when I received an invite for a mystery supper, I was intrigued as well as excited. The first thing I saw when I entered was the three favourite judges who was with us for so long they are a household name. Matt, George and Gary. It raised my hopes up for their return. Was it? Read on…..
The table were laid out with the names and our choice of food. As usual my choice was non-veg (just to be nice to animals, I dont eat their food) Well what did we eat?
Amuse Bouche – Mishti doi spheres – Very Clever indeed and captured the true essence of every bengali’s staple sweet
Hass Avocado Chat – Absolutely brilliant !!
Edname Hummus, Regaga Chips – Average
Tempura Fried Prawns, Nimnu Mirch Air – One of their signature dish, the foam is fun to eat
Butter Chicken Quesadillas
Braised Lamb Chops
Hajmola Lolli Pops – This was plain weird and I will not recommend this to anyone
Chicken Tikka Masala – Not a big fan of chicken but this was palatable
Allepy Duck Curry, Raw Mango Confit, Tenpered red rice – Very nice combination
There was also some fancy cocktails that Farzi is obviously famous for.
There was a fun element of guessing the dish by covering the eyes and allowing the other senses to work but I have been to Farzi so many times, I did not have to try to hard. It was their Khichdi Arancini. The dinner was scrumptious with the kind of fusion that’s common in MasterChef Australia which only Farzi is synonymous with, in the Uru. Great going chef Surya. Brilliant time and it was also a farewell note to the three favourite judges Matt, Gary and George. They will missed. Hope the new judges are as charismatic. Nope, no hope of our favourite gang coming back at least for this season. Fingers crossed for the future.
The cocktails with unique shaped glassware and off beat names were interesting too. Enjoy the snaps
