I have come to Church Street Social twice and both times for an event. The first time I came was during the #GameOfThrones #LIT festival and the second time for a gin masterclass.
As a place you will be lucky to even get a place on weekends or someone really important. With two levels, most of the events happens on the second level. It is spacious and filled with furious activity and banter. The lighting is not very bright but it does not feel unpleasant either. The staff is very forthcoming and friendly but always running to get the next order. They work at a furious pace. Sometimes it can also mean a delay in your order. Go there with an open mind and lots of time on your hands. Its not for a busy person with a hectic schedule. Good place to chillout with friends. It certainly is not a kid friendly place.
I wasn’t there very long for the LIT festival but the drink I had as pretty spiffy cocktail called the Lions Tail. It had Jim beam, ketel one vodka, tequila and elderflower tonic. Two of this could leave you feeling brave 🙂 I had the bacon with it which was just average. Nothing in it but fried bacon.. They do have their share of fancy looking cocktails that people swear by but I plan to have that sometime. Never had them
For the second one I stayed far longer. With the master, Jamie Walker talking about Gin and creating cocktails, it was a fun night. It started with the introduction to the two brands Tanqueray and Gordons as well as a tasting session of both. Once we were intimately connected, the sours, white ladies and other creations made their appearance and then the fun didn’t stop till the session ended. Enjoy the visuals
